TEST DRIVE YOUR ORCHESTRA

If you are new in town and have not had a chance to experience the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, we would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in our Test Drive Your Orchestra program; our “try it before you buy it” initiative.

The Canberra Symphony Orchestra is convinced that if given the chance, many people like you would spend their limited free time enjoying the arts. Learning from the positive results of a program recently implemented in South Australia and Queensland, the orchestra is embarking on a new and exciting audience development initiative, which we are calling Test Drive Your Orchestra.

To make it easy for new listeners to experience the power of orchestral music, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra would like to offer you a complimentary double pass to attend one of our concerts. If you are a newly arrived Canberran who has never attended a concert since moving to our wonderful city, you should participate in this exciting new venture. Simply contact us via email to join the programme and nominate a concert of your choice, either Wednesday or Thursday night at the Llewellyn Hall. Tickets and a concert guide will be sent to you a week before the event with full details about the evening.

As our guest, you will only need to respond a short survey to answer "the morning after question". We are simply interested in hearing How was it for you? There are no other conditions attached. However, if you enjoyed the experience and want to come back for more, we will be delighted to have you and offer you the chance to subscribe under our “New in Town “special category.

So, if you want to experience the Canberra Symphony Orchestra simply register for a test drive. With Test Drive Your Orchestra, all you need to do is send us an email, then arrive the night of the show to sit back and enjoy the ride. Join us in listening to some of the most gorgeous music ever composed, played by many of Australia’s leading musicians, in a relaxed atmosphere, all in the welcoming surroundings of the Llewellyn Hall, ANU School of Music.

Be a part of the experience. You'll be mesmerised by the quality of the musicians and the beauty of the music.

Perhaps you can begin your evening with a cocktail before the show at one of Canberra's trendy bars such as Knightsbridge, Hippo or Muddle Bar. Combine the musical experience with dinner at one of our preferred restaurants and turn it into a perfect night out. Enjoy the theatricality of Vivaldi, the luxury of Flint or the relaxed chic atmosphere of Parlour which serves superb tapas.

Attending a concert is a fabulous experience. Llewellyn Hall has a bar and coffee facilities which provide refreshments. The concerts start at 07:30 and go for about 90 minutes, with a 20 minute interval. There is plenty of parking available, but please arrive on time as you will need to wait until a suitable moment to enter the hall if you arrive once the concert has started. To inform you about the composers chosen and the musicians performing, programs are available for sale.

Some people choose to dress up, others come in jeans and t-shirts (weather permitting!) It is really all about the music.

Email your details, including name, email, post address, month and year of arrival in Canberra and any questions that you may have to frank.madrid@cso.org.au
