The Canberra Symphony Orchestra is unique among Australian capital city orchestras in that we are a fully professional orchestra operating on a part-time basis.

We are fortunate to have a strong and loyal following - and this is something we never take for granted! We are continually striving to bring members of the region and visitors to our city the finest symphonic music featuring local, national and international musicians.

The artistic and creative standards attained by the CSO would not be possible without the sustained and generous support from the ACT Government, the business community and individuals who recognise the fundamental importance of beautiful music - especially in these often less-than-beautiful times. Recently the Commonwealth Government has joined the ranks of supporters and this funding has enabled us to increase our rehearsals prior to each concert -- an innovation which has already yielded significant results!

The CSO operates a very tight and responsible fiscal program. With 25% of our costs being allayed by government funding, we rely upon 75% from ticket sales, corporate partnerships and individuals. Our corporate partners range from multinationals to small, privately owned companies. We are pleased to work in collaborative partnership with them and salute their support for the artistic culture and heritage of Canberra.

Individuals contribute a significant amount through the Benefactors and Patrons program. We value each one as a friend.
