In my concerts with the CSO, I have been astonished by the amazing combination of energy, artistic integrity, and the absolute commitment to the music. The CSO is a rare jewel among all of the major Australian orchestras - unique in its organisational structure and with an intense performance approach that can be quite electrifying. It has been incredibly inspiring for me to make music with our players, and 2008 promises to be our most stunning year yet.
There is nothing quite like the intensity of a live CSO performance. I invite you to study the fascinating programs in our year ahead. Four powerful programs in our flagship Llewellyn Series transport you through the ages of time and the expanses of a vast musical landscape. Soloists joining us are among the most brilliant Australian artists of our time.
Be seduced by the ever- popular CSO Prom Concert, set to a Spanish theme with stunning guest artists. For our ACTEW Grand Gala in June, revel in the scintillating power of Carmina Burana and enjoy Canberra’s newly refurbished Llewellyn Hall as it has never sounded before! To conclude this amazing year, we welcome artists from the Australian Ballet to Canberra for our very first Canberra Labor Club Tea & Symphony Concert - an afternoon of unmitigated bliss for your senses!
With open arms my musicians and I warmly invite you to become part of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra family in 2008. You - our audience - are an essential component in that magical process that allows us to make sublime music come alive. Our profoundest reward is to know that we have shared our beautiful and surprising journey with you.
Sincerely yours,
Nicholas Milton Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, Canberra Symphony Orchestra |
