James has already built up an impressive list of credits with many national and international performing companies. For Opera Australia, he has sung the Henchman in Batavia and the Bird Seller in Der Rosenkavalier. For the Belcanto Festival in The Netherlands, he performed Elvino in La Sonnambula and Don Carissimo in La Dirindina; for Melbourne Opera, the roles of Tamino in The Magic Flute and Nadir in The Pearl Fishers; Pang in Turandot for the Puccini Festival of Australia and Remendado in Carmen for West Australian Opera. For the Castlemaine Festival in 2005, James created the role in the one-man opera Tell Tale Heart. On the concert platform, James Egglestone has sung the tenor solos in Haydn’s Creation, Britten’s Cantide and the Bach Cantatas Nos. 21 and 137. In 2006, he sang Ismaele in Nabucco for West Australian Opera, Francesco in The Gondoliers for Opera Australia, Almaviva in The Barber of Seville for Melbourne Opera and appeared in concert with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Victorian Opera. He recently returned from Jakarta where he appeared as tenor soloist with the Twilite Orchestra. In 2007, James won the prestigious Helpmann Award for his performance in a leading role in The Love of the Nightingale for West Australian Opera, Opera Queensland and Victorian Opera. He also appeared in Little Women for State Opera of South Australia, Cosi fan Tutte for Victorian Opera and Orpheus in the Underworld for West Australia Opera; he also appeared in concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
