FOLLOWING ADVICE FROM THE SEVERE WEATHER BUREAUS IN MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY, THE CSO HAS REGRETFULLY CANCELLED THE 2012 SHELL PROM CONCERT DUE TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNINGS FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AFTERNOON (FEB 18 AND 19).

IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A GOURMET HAMPER OR SNACK PACK, THESE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR COLLECTION FROM THE GATES OF GOVERNMENT HOUSE ON DUNROSSIL DRIVE BETWEEN NOON AND 4:00PM ON SATURDAY 18 FEBRUARY.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE A REFUND FOR YOUR TICKET(S), PLEASE RETURN THEM TO YOUR POINT OF PURCHASE (CANBERRA TICKETING OR CSO DIRECT AFTER 22 FEBRUARY). ALTERNATIVELY, YOU MIGHT WISH TO CONSIDER MAKING YOUR TICKET PURCHASE A DONATION TO HELP THE CSO COVER SOME OF THE COSTS ALREADY INCURRED FOR THIS CONCERT!

The 30th annual Prom takes on a carnival atmosphere in our 2012 performance as we join with the Embassy of Italy for the Carnevale di Canberra! With orchestral blockbusters inspired by the festivity of the richly exciting carnival tradition, we feature Dvorak's rousing Carnival Overture, The Barber of Seville Overture by Rossini, and selections from Vivaldi's Four Seasons performed by CSO Concertmaster, Barbara Jane Gilby while our guest vocalists thrill with the love duets from La Boheme . What Italian feast would be complete without the "Triumphal March" from Verdi's Aida, or a spine-tingling rendition of Nessun Dorma?

Thanks to Shell Australia, we’ve been able to reduce Prom ticket prices, so bring your family and celebrate the Carnivale with your CSO in the stunning setting of the gardens at Government House!
