ACTEW Grand Gala:

An Evening with George Gershwin

================
In 2012, we present a very special Gala event - An Evening with George Gershwin. Effervescent pianist Piers Lane joins us for a bewitching rendition of "Rhapsody in Blue" and Canberra-favourite, Trisha Crowe sings some of the most beloved show tunes penned by George and Ira Gershwin, including "Stairway To Paradise"," 'S Wonderful" and "Summertime". Nicholas Milton and the CSO add a saxophone section and go into big-band mode to perform the extraordinary "American in Paris", Gershwin's ever-popular portrayal of the city of love. Another sold-out Gala concert is on the cards so book early!

"Playing Gershwin’s two main works for piano and orchestra is Nice Work If You Can Get It. S’wonderful music, with Fascinatin’ Rhythm and That Certain Feeling. I’m Just Bidin’ My Time till we can Strike Up The Band and Slap That Bass! I hope you’ll Clap Yo’ Hands even if it’s A Foggy DayBut Not for Me – for The Man I Love – George Gershwin!" Piers Lane
