Concert Poster

Wednesday 19 and
Thursday 20 May 2010

7:30pm Llewellyn Hall,
ANU School of Music

Conductor: Nicholas Milton
Piano: Konstantin Shamray
(SIPCA winner)

Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No. 3
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No.4

Another of Nicholas Milton’s trademark “blockbuster” programs, 10:2 is a powerhouse concert of epic proportions. Konstantin Shamray, winner of the prestigious Sydney International Piano competition, conquers Rachmaninov’s fierce and relentless Piano Concerto No 3, the virtuoso work featured in the hit Australian film “Shine”. After interval, Tchaikovsky’s fateful Symphony No 4 summons the powerful forces of destiny - the composer’s most personal symphonic work explores haunting and expressive colours through its massed orchestral forces, vivid imagination and extraordinary rhythmic energy.
