Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 March 2010 Copland: Appalachian Spring |
San Francisco-based maestro, Andrew Mogrelia opens the first Llewellyn concert of 2010 with a true American Classic: Aaron Copland’s lyrical Appalachian Spring. In a CSO first, Christopher Wrench brings the Llewellyn Hall organ to life with Poulenc’s colourful Organ Concerto in G minor, a fantastical mosaic of French individualism and delightful melodic creations. This idyllic evening concludes with Beethoven’s immortal Symphony No 6 (Pastoral), an evocation of Nature in all its tenderness and splendour.
